Hi! This is my first blog, but I hope everyone likes it. I have combined some of the things I feel incredibly passionate about. My favourite band, always have been, and always will be, Arctic Monkeys. They are an original indie rock band from a suburb in Sheffield, called High Green. One of the main reasons I love them so much, is that they have gotten themselves into the position they are in today. They started off as just a group of lads who were friends. To see how far they've come and all they have achieved is amazing. Considering the fact that they were formed in 2002 and played their first gig in a local Sheffield pub in 2003, and to see now, how they are known all over the world is bizarre, in a wonderful way. Many people aspire to do this, but not many people have what it takes. Not many people have what it takes to be able to say, 'I don't care what anyone else thinks. I'm going to put myself out there.' They are my role models and I hope to be as successful as them one day.
I love lyrics. Not all lyrics, but the ones which have a meaning or a purpose. I believe Alex Turner is the best lyricist of today. Many disagree, but I believe that only he can come up with the most abstract concepts and make them relatable through music. I defy you to find any song written by him, that doesn't have realistic, intricate lyrics. Each album Alex has written, has been absolutely outstanding. I have been fortunate to be surrounded by their music for as long as I can remember. I see his songs as having such power, that I don't care that my friends think I'm weird for liking him. His lyrics carry such deep meaning that music today just doesn't. People have stopped caring what they are being told through words in a song, and how the instruments carry their own message. Arctic Monkeys are bringing back the important side of music, hence my love for them.
As often as I can, I plan to write about each song, or even just a few lyrics. My love for Alex Turner is bound to come up more than not, but I will try to be fair when listening to his lyrics. I don't plan to tell anyone that I am writing this, or who I really am. I'm pretty sure I'm going to try to get into journalism, so I need to be able to speak my true opinions without others criticising me for it. I am fairly busy with school and other various things, but as I said, I will write as often as I can. Feel free to give me your own opinions which I will include if possible. Thank you for reading!
